International Olympiad of Science (iOS) Class 7: syllabus, dates and exam pattern (2026–27)

SilverZone publishes these under the heading "Tentative Examination Schedule for the year 2026-27" — they are the body's own dates, but SilverZone has not marked them final, so treat them as indicative until your school confirms. The schedule page lists three dates while the iOS page still describes a two-date structure; ask your coordinator which of the published dates your school has opted for.
SilverZone also lists an online-mode sitting of iOS on 27 December 2026, under the same 30 September 2026 registration cutoff. It was added to SilverZone's own exam-date data on 11 September 2026; the dates above are its offline sittings.
Registration: SilverZone published one registration cutoff covering every paper it runs: 30 September 2026, on the same page it headed "Tentative Examination Schedule." SilverZone moved this date: its own exam-date endpoint returned 31 August 2026 on every read from 18 August to 1 September 2026 and 30 September 2026 from 2 September, with no announcement anywhere on its site. This is the correction that reopens a door: until 2 September this page told a school which does not currently offer iOS that it had missed the year and should ask about the next one. It has not. Registration is through participating schools by default, so the date binds your school rather than you (SilverZone also runs an individual registration form at r.silverzone.org whose paper list we have not been able to confirm) — a prospectus request now (info@silverzone.org or 011-69114100) is for THIS season.
The deadline is set by your school, not by you
Most parents find the exam date and assume they have until then. The registration window closes long before it, and for some papers it has already started closing. Here is how it actually works.
- Your school registers your child and your school picks which of the 2–3 dates the class sits. The family does not choose.
- For SOF papers, registrations must reach SOF exactly 30 days before that chosen date — and once the school has chosen, the date cannot be changed.
- Most bodies register through the school. These do not have to: CREST (online, no published cutoff), Unified Council — directly for NSTSE itself at ₹350 against ₹150 through a school, and on three online sittings, NSTSE-Online, UIMO-Online and UIEO-Online, at ₹354 each including GST — Indian Talent Olympiad on its individual online route (its own later dates — Slot 1 closes 30 October), and Humming Bird (online, ₹150 a subject, no published cutoff — its two dates are picked as you register). CREST is the simplest of them. SilverZone also runs an individual registration form alongside its default school route; which papers it offers we have not been able to confirm.

This is the shortest syllabus list on any of our exam pages, and that is the finding, not an omission. SilverZone's published Class 7 science list maps onto only eight of the twelve chapters in the new Curiosity book — it does not name metals and non-metals, adolescence, Earth-Moon-and-Sun, or the opening chapter on how science evolves. But it does name three chapters that are not in the 2026-27 book at all: reproduction in plants, the wastewater story, and forests. All three were Class 7 chapters in the previous NCERT, all three still sit in olympiad question banks, and none of them will be taught in your child's classroom this year. That is roughly one section's worth of marks — Natural Resources alone is 5 marks — that school study cannot reach. Worth being straight about the other half of that: unlike the maths paper above, where the missing topics reappear as Class 8 chapters, these three have left the 2026-27 spine entirely, and they are not in our own Class 7 science practice today either. They have to come from the body's own past papers. Separately, the Reasoning and Aptitude section (7 questions, 21 marks) is a distinct spine and is not drawn from the science chapters.
